Michigan Opera Theatre & Pages Bookshop Present: Page to Stage - Bel Canto

Join Pages Bookshop and Michigan Opera Theatre for MOT's “Page to Stage” series with a special presentation on Ann Patchett’s 2001 opera-centered novel Bel Canto!

MOT Directors Andrea Scobie and Arthur White will discuss the true story which served as the author’s inspiration and take a deeper dive into the operas referenced in the novel, illuminating, with musical examples, how their stories or themes reflect or reinforce the action and characters which Patchett has created. A Q&A will follow the main event.

You can join the event via this Zoom link. Please do not try to join the event until right before it gets started. If you have any trouble accessing the event please email erin@pagesbkshop.com.

You can purchase your copy of Bel Canto here or any of Ann Patchett's other books here.

About Bel Canto:

Ann Patchett’s award winning, New York Times bestselling Bel Canto balances themes of love and crisis as disparate characters learn that music is their only common language. As in Patchett’s other novels, including Truth & Beauty and The Magician’s Assistant, the author’s lyrical prose and lucid imagination make Bel Canto a captivating story of strength and frailty, love and imprisonment, and an inspiring tale of transcendent romance.
