Writing Women's Lives feat. Desiree Cooper, Robin Gaines and Anne Elizabeth Moore
This will be an opportunity for readers and writers to hear from three Michigan female journalists who write about women’s lives. Desiree Cooper’s award-winning, debut collection of flash fiction, Know the Mother, offers explorations into how race and gender are experienced in life’s most intimate settings. Robin Gaines’s Invincible Summers is a gripping novel about a young woman's struggle over the course of eleven summers to cope with her father's sudden death. The novel is a 2017 Los Angeles Book Festival Honorable Mention. Anne Elizabeth Moore is a journalist, essayist, cultural critic and graphic novelist. Her current book, Body Horror, explores the ways patriarchal capitalistic trauma plays out on women’s bodies and health, both mental and physical.
Come to hear the authors discuss writing about and within the state of womanhood.
